specifically for metal.. the consensus is that Vader is the best option for any audience slaying metal guitarist.

Mills Acoustics if you don't have a budget, by far the best cabs I've owned/tried. Very hard to find used unfortunately, once you get one, no one wants to sell them.

I just got this head as well. I actually got a free cab with it, Spider III cab, so I am not complaining. I wish I could have gotten the used VHT cab there, but they wanted $600 for it.

Orange PPC 412 has a ****load of bottom end, and is very articulate in mids. Highs are reduced a bit. That is just wat you are looking for.

For reference sake, the Avatar Contemporary series is an almost exact knockoff of Orange's cabs.

hmmm... i wanna get a vader but it kinda sux not knowing how it sounds before you buy. i keep hearing that v-30's sound best for the 5150; but doesn't the highs seem a tad bit bright?
#22
orange is the best period. vader is a close second (with other benefits).

It won't be too bright as long as you keep the mids and highs a bit lower than usual with the 5150 and V30's.
V30's have a natural midrange that is crisp and present. You have set the eq according to the speaker's voicing.

when you ordered your vader... how long did it take to ship? are those vader cabs worth a flip at low listening levels? "living room" volume?
#29

and at low volumes, mine sounds pretty good. i mean, better than my cube.
