Are the schecter Omen 6, Gryphon, or Damien 6 good guitars? Im looking for a good heavy metal guitar that sounds huge and thick. I could either buy a brand new Omen 6 or buy a Gryphon or Damien used. I dont know which is better. I have a budget of 315$. And I have a 5150 as my amp so im good on the amp. So, just a little help here.
Thanks.

They're pretty good... TBH, for the price schecter are some of the best.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

guitar: Schecter c1 classic
amp: Engl fireball

i have a gryhpon and i like it a lot. that being said, i may sell it since i just bought a mh-400. i am undecided though because i really like the coil tap feature.

I voted the gryphon, it has a mahogany body whereas the damien and omen have a basswood body.

I love mahogany.

I have a hellraiser and I absolutely hate that guitar. Doesn't matter how it gets set-up, strings, nuts, or truss rod adjustments, the damn thing still buzzes. The frets are absolutely horrible. It does look really awesome hanging on the wall though
I love all 5 (sold a couple) of my Carvin X-100b's.

Schecter's and LTD's are made in the SAME Korean factory. Besides, I've never played a bad schecter. They DO put out a lemon occasionally, but so does every other company.

I'd go for the new Omen thingy. New's always better than used, as there's no telling WHAT the guy who had the guitar before you did to it.
Equipment:
-Ibanez GIO
-Fender American Standard Strat HSS
-Acoustic Schneider Guitar
-ARIA STB-PB-DX Bass
-Vox VT50AD-XL
-Roland Cube-30 Bass
-Digitech RP-250
-Blue guitar pick

I gave a hellraiser too and I like it. It does buzz a bit when you put the action too low, that's true...
The sound is amazing though! And yeah... the looks

I'd go for the hellraiser sunset. Thats what i'm after =] . It has 2 emg active humbuckers which can be changed by a pull of a knob to single coil. It's a reli versitile guitar.

for the price, omens are probably one of the best guitars you an get, maybe some new pickups could make it awesome,

Pros:
good sustain
easy string changing
stays in tune nice
great feeling neck
good all around guitar

Cons:
black (what i have) scratches easy
I have to leave the tone knob all the way up or it just doesn't sound as good
I hit the switch occasionally while strumming, changing pickups (might just be me)

If you want to go a lil more expensive, the damien has flat black, so scrathes won't show up as easy, & bat inlays (don't know if thats your cup of tea)

IDK anything about gryphons

I've looked into c-1's, you could save up for one, and get a great guitar

but for 315 i'd say omen
MIM Tele
Fender Blues Jr NOS
Schecter Omen 6
Squier Strat
Greg Bennett Acoustic
other crap...
If seeing is believing...

...Then believe that we have lost our eyes!!

i put down other as you should look at c-1's and Avengers, but I personally own the Omen 6 and i love it to death. it plays great, stays in tune great, sounds great and feels great. the only problem i have with mine is that the walnut satin finish is thin, but behind it is a really nice wood tone that matches the finish, so it's not even a problem.

From here, I can see forever.
