last night i was at wild wings for 2 for tuesdays and there was an awesome band playing. Their called Tokyo Joe. Anyway they just played covers with a dude playing acoustic, a dude playing electric and a guy playing bass. They played stuff like wonderwall, and other laid back songs. so i'm just wondering what some good songs would be to play live in a situation like that since i'm interested in doing that.

so far i have

What I Got-Santeria
Crush-Dave Matthews Band
Wonderwall-Oasis
Girl I Wanna Lay You Down-Jack Johnson
Taylor-Jack Johnson
Banana Pancakes-Jack Johnson
and a few other jack johnson songs and some buffett.

any ideas?

thanks for the advice. man i heard this song that they were playing that alot of people seemed to know. I think one of the lines was "I wanna push you around" that was like in the chorus idk but it sounded sick.

if you are good with fingerstyle picking (if not, try it later) you should try some Ulli Bögershausen songs. I'm working on a couple songs from him lol. i think he has tabs on his site, but i dont use them.

Some suggestions, most not really that difficult:

Oasis - Slide Away
Goo Goo Dolls - Slide
Chris Cornell - Billy Jean (Acoustic cover)
Collective Soul - World I know
Matchbox20 - 3 AM
Matt Weddle - Hey Ya (Acoustic cover)
Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
Live - Lightning Crashes
Ben Harper - Amen Omen
Ben Harper - In Your Eyes
Jack Johnson & Ben Harper - High Tide or Low Tide
Bernard Fanning - Watch Over Me
Foo Fighters - Everlong
John Mayer - St Patrick's Day (personally I still haven't figured out how in the world he plays the bridge)
Bloc Party - This Modern Love (acoustic version)
Coldplay - the Scientist
David Gray - Babylon
Incubus - Drive
FM static - Hey Now

... there's probably a lot more they were just what sprung to mind... my bad for the long list haha

The other songs suggested were great, but if you need to fill in some cracks then rehash some old Bob Dylan songs. The great thing about Dylan is that his lyrics are simply amazing (even if his voice gets on my nerves) and the guitar parts are normally extremely simple so that you can either play it simple or make your own version based around the chords.

"All Along the Watchtower" is really good for live performance. And don't think you have to do the Hendrix version...Check out the original Dylan version, as well as the Dave Matthews version (he plays it live) and (my personal favorite) the Micheal Hedges version. Just to see the plethora of ways one can rehash a Dylan song.

Early Morning Rain is a favorite song, until now I was only familiar with Gordon's version. Thanks for the heads up on Paul Weller--I just watched a vid on You tube--AWESOME

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.
