hey guys
so iim installing seymour duncan sh-2 and sh-4 (hot rodded set) into my guitar
the guitar is kinda old, so i was wondering, should I change out the pots too?
i assume they might degrade over time, but i dont really know for a fact

if so, what should i change em to?
there were EMGs in there before..

I think the EMG's used 25K pots. You will need to change them to 500K. Dont forget a cap for your tone control.

i heard that 500k pots are not as good as 250k pots
as i am sure that is a rash generalization...
can i ask why 500k vs 250k?
and how do i get the cap for the tone control??

From what I can remember, the 250K pots will kill quite a bit of your output and darken the tone. While the 500K will keep your highs from rolling off too soon. I dont think it matters as much on the volume pot as it does the tone.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

thats more or less it.

typically people typcially use 500k pots for humbuckers, and 250k pots for single coils. But as for the type of pot, some people will swear by some higher quality ones, but I got a bulk set of some cheap ones and they sound great to me. A higher quality pot wont make as big of a difference as a higher quality cap, IMO.

but yeah 500k is the way you want to go, also use an audio pot for the volume, and a linear pot for the tone.

sounds great, thanks for the info!
i found some on ebay
just to double check
is this right?:
A = audio taper
B = linear taper

and for humbuckers in the single coil shape (like lace sensor blue), should it be a 250k or 500k pot?
