It would be a step in the right direction. So, given the current political circumstances, I'm gonna have to go ahead and say probably not

The only threads I've seen about drugs are just talking about them not about legalizing them.

I think they will leagalize, but I'm against it.

The gov.t has been throwing people in jail for something they're going to legalize? WTF???

Not only that, they're going to tax the **** out of it.

$14 billion dollars is spent on weed every year in California. It's worth legalizing just for the money.
#16
well, legalizing it and taxing it would be a good way to try and fix the economy.
so many people smoke pot, and if they were able to make money off of it, then maybe we wouldnt be in this position now.

plus, legalized drugs are less admirable in the eyes of a teenager. think of how many kids smoke just because its illegal and they think they're bad@ss.

are you high now? those are the main reasons the gov't would legalize; to tax it and to keep everyday users out of jail

Biggest selling drug, and most common is marijuana.
Idiot.
Think of all the people that do it compared to coke.
Yes I'm aware that its $5 a joint compared to $100 a gram for coke, but many more people do weed then coke.

Yeah, and the taxes will go to schools... just like the money from indian casino's is suppose to. SO why are we shutting down so many school programs???

The only argument I have to agree with is that countries with legal drugs and cessation programs etc. have lower crime rates.

Besides, what would all the un-employed dealers do? start robbing people? Its a good idea, but it won't work the way they want it to. If you really think legalizing weed will fix the economy your retarded.

All keeping drugs illegal is doing is taking money out of the economy. If the government take drugs away they are spending money doing that and then also losing money as drug users have to pay extra as the dealers have put up prices.

You cannot win the war on drugs. I recommend watching The Wire to see this illustrated brilliantly.

Ok you've officially never met a drug lord or done drugs.

Coke is $40 for a G. $50 if its good or you don't know the guy.

**** bro you can get an eightball for $120 if you play your cards right. I hope you don't buy it at that price...

I was thinking about this the other day and this scenario kept playing in my head:

-Weed is legalized in California- a legal, regulated cannabis industry is set up with a $50 tax per ounce.

-This creates a very lucrative opportunity for the drug cartels. Why smuggle it across the border when you can legally produce it there? Drug lords take advantage of this an set up shop in CA.

-With only one state producing the weed legally, the supply increases in CA 20 fold. However the demand for weed is still located in the rest of the country where it is not legal.

-The drug cartels are back in the business of smuggling weed across borders, only now it's a much less protected state line.

-Since the $50 tax is on the sale per ounce- not the production, California will get a much lower payday from this because all of the product is being smuggled to the rest of the country where it is sold on the tax-free black market.

-The only way this will work is if the Federal Government decriminalizes cannabis. This way states can decide for themselves if they want a cannabis industry in their state.

-Complete legalization in only one state is going to suffocate this baby in its crib. If we really want weed to be legal, federal decriminalization needs to come first.

Dude, don't come in here acting like you've met serious drug lords because you can get cocaine

You live in Cali, he most likely lives much farther from Mexico.. you don't get cocaine for 40$ a gram everywhere, that's very cheap compared to nearly any other place in the world
