Just got an email from the Schecter mailing list, and they've designed another bass:

DV-4 Brown Sunburst

See-Through Cherry

Specs, for those wondering:

- Mahogany body
- 3 piece mahogany set neck
- 24 jumbo frets
- EMG-HZ "MM" pickup
- Active 2-band EQ
- Rosewood fretboard
- Custom Schecter bridge with top-loading or string-through option

What does everyone think? I like the look, but the single pickup doesn't appeal to me all that much. It seems like they're just taking their guitar models and transforming them into basses lately (with the exception of the Riot).

Forgive the bluntness, but what in the chucklefucking hell is this?

God those are not good designs. I'm not sure why you would make a 24 fret bass and give it such horrendous access.

I mean for a Gibson fanboy on a budget, maybe, but the Stilleto series has everything a mid range bass should have.

Are these super-duper budget basses? They remind me of that ridiculous Ibanez bass from the FAQ.

I was looking at a used Warwick Vampyre LTD 5'er for about $200. I went home to grab my wallet and came back and some jerk with an epic beard got it already..

looks like a combination of a modulus, a stingray, and a schecter (and kind of like an SG). I dont like it

Not quite. They retail somewhere around 6-700 USD. More expensive than most Stilettos, actually...

So their infringing on the Ibanez ATK's territory....

It's an ugly bass. Fat, pointy and with lower fret acess that makes the Thunderbird blush.

i actually think the first one is downright sexy.

By using all-mahogany, yes. I haven't seen to many mahogany necks though, so maybe itll prove interesting, but I think we're seeing a surfeit of inexpensive bridge pickup only basses recently, and this'll almost certainly lose out to the Fleabass, purely on marketing power. The ATK I think has this hands down, bigger tone, better looking and probably more versatile...

Lose the pickguard, add a second pickup.

That's my opinion.

Nay, looks unbelievably ugly.

Looks like an SG and Grabber's abnormal baby.

That's not gonna be adopted.

The tone woods seem like the bass would be at the very least worth listening to. I can't say I'm a fan of it's appearance or the lack of proper upper fret access, though.

Ill give it the fact that it looks sexy, but all other judgements will be held until I try one.
