I'm looking for a pedal for a reasonable price. I have a spider III and I use distortion a lot. I'm looking for something that'll be good for heavy metal.

Price range? Guitar?

And I can say right off the bat, your best bet is to save the money and invest in a better amp if you want a better metal tone.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul standard. I'd be willing to spend around $100-$150.

Well this amp hasn't been too bad so far. And unfortunately I don't have the money right now to get a new one.

Better amp.

A distortion pedal won't make it sound any better.

I know you may say that your amp hasn't been "too bad," but maybe you need to be exposed to something of higher quality.

Putting a quality effects pedal in front of a SpiderIII is like getting diamond inlays for your plastic ring. Yeah, the diamonds may be freakin awesome but it's still a crappy ring.
