Hey, my roommate is modeling a person in Maya, and she's looking for tutorials on how to do hair. She's doesn't have Maya Fur, so she can't do that, and PaintFX might work, but might not. Can anyone send a link or something? Oh, and no videos please. Thanks!

Damn, dude, I wish her luck. People are some of the hardest subjects in any art, including 3d modeling. Lightwave FTW, though.

send pics of her please. :P

uh, tell her, if she doesnt have maya fur, she should use a realistic looking hair transmap just above the model, with the specular setting for the hair right up, using the same shape as the head only a little larger and a tiny bit above the model.

PS, i think lightwave and 3ds max are better.

No.

Well, technically it could be done, but only in the same way that you could change a cat into a hamburger. It's an unpleasant process, and nobody is happy with the result.
