I'd get it, but i'm not sure how it'd fare with my already fairly bright CBB.
If I still had my Peavey Classic, i'd get it, but now i'm not too sure.

I think i'll pass on this one.

I thought the same thing about my bright amps.

But this thread is a good idea, could be a daily check on stupid deals whatever they are. Doesn't have to be MF, could be anything. Good idea John!
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

Change teh input cap in it.
Really change the tone of the pedal if you do that.
EDIT: Actually, don't quote me on that. This isn't an exact circuit replica of the Rangemaster. Uses an opamp instead of a Germanium transistor, for one..

I saw this deal in the morning before I had to head over to the college, almost bought one. I'm still thinking about buying one, but I doubt I'd even use it. If it was the Boosta Grande I would have jumped on it by now. I prefer using an OD over a treble booster anyway.

Does the Freq booster (and other Rangemaster-type pedals) boost treble only or does it also drive the tubes a bit?

Don't think of it as a treble boost.
It boosts the upper mids, and has a buttload of gain available.

And ANY time you boost frequencies a significant amount, you're driving the tubes harder.

thanks man. so just to make sure... if i was using my normal guitar chanel and then turned this on, it would be like going into a solo chanel?

no, it's a treble booster. it doesn't add distortion, but it can sound damn sweet when used with overdrive.

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

It'll add distortion when you use it with a tube amp that's cranked fairly hard. Power tube distortion.

of course. but i meant that the pedal itself doesn't add clipping to the signal

Treble boosts work pretty well with modelers. Tends to loosen up the compression without getting too harsh or fizzly.
