Hey, I'm finding it kind of awkward to make barre chords on the 12th fret and beyond it. I feel as if I have to physically move the guitar into a different position in order to ensure the chord shape is made, and that all the notes are sounded. Is that normal?

I also have this very same problem, but there is no real need to make barre chords past that (especially on the 6th string), you can just do the same chord higher up on the neck on the higher strings and thus the problem is solved.

^ this, and it also depends on how the shape of the cutaway on your guitar. Deeper cutaway, better access to higher frets.
