A question for the guitar pros amongst the UG community.

What is the difference between different Strats? I'm not talking about the made in Mexico ones but the American ones. First off, what are the key differences between the standards, the deluxe's and the vintage's? I know it's to do with the pick ups, trim etc, but what does it all mean? And is an HSS worth the buy or is it frowned upon by arch strat lovers?

Secondly, what is the difference between a 60's, 70's, 80's strat etc? Sorry for being a noob. I'm interested though!

Cheers.

Haha, wow, I just answered this similar question last night.

www.fender.com - Seriously, I really recommend checking the site out, it has everything to know about the instruments.

And no, HSS is great, especially for versatility. Many people recommend it, myself included, although I do like the classic SSS set up.
