Well my current bass isn't really cutting it for me so I'm going to get a new one, as soon as I have the money. I've got a couple in mind but I'm new to bass so other then what I read (good or bad) I don't know much about them.
Right now on my list is :
FLEABASS-(even with the dumb colors)

Sterling by Musicman SB14- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Sterling-by-Music-Man-SB14-Bass-580994-i1441959.gc

Ray 34-http://www.guitarcenter.com/Sterling-by-Music-Man-RAY34-Electric-Bass-Guitar-580995-i1441962.gc

Fender Deluxe P Bass Special- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Deluxe-P-Bass-Special-4-String-Bass-515201-i1148626.gc

Musicman Sterling 4 string- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Music-Man-Sterling-4-String-Bass-Guitar-515557-i1148779.gc

Stingray- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Music-Man-StingRay-HH-4-String-Bass-515511-i1148706.gc

or maybe an Ibanez

ps I chose these because of the high marks they get (not counting the newer basses) and because most of them have slimmer necks which I need.

new to bass and buying musicmans?

jeez u must have a good job or something. i started with an Ibanez, went to ESP, back to Ibanez for a 5 string, and now back to ESP for a 6 string and i still have yet to spend 1000+ on a bass lol.

but yea, try some Ibanez Soundgears, great basses.
check out ESPs too, great basses for pretty reasonable prices, and the necks are really thin, almost as thin as Ibanez Soundgears. only thing is ESPs have XJ sized frets while Ibanez has medium, dont know if that matters to you or not.
Equipment:

ESP F104 Bass
Spector Legend 5 Classic Bass
ESP B206SM Bass
Axl Mayhem Fireaxe Guitar
Gallien-Krueger 400RB-III Combo Bass Amp
Gallien-Krueger 115SBX Bass Cabinet

You really need to audition the Musicman Stingray to get a sense of how it will feel in your hands and how it sounds. If you are sure it is the right bass for you don't cheap out. Spend the $1400 or so for the Stingray HH and never look back.
