Is this shape the major ionian scale? im really getting confused.

|---------------------------------------------------2--3----|
|------------------------------------------3--5-------------|
|--------------------------------2--4--5-------------------|
|---------------------2--4--5------------------------------|
|----------2--3--5-----------------------------------------|
|-3--5-----------------------------------------------------|

And what makes it ionian, if it is.

The Ionion scale is simply the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh notes of the scale.

so in G (where you've started) you get G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G

Hope that makes sense.

Ahh, mint. Cheers free.

So what have written there? the G major scale? And all other g scales are created from this?

Yeah thats a G major scale. G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G

Find them notes anywhere on the fretboard and you're still within that scale.

The pattern you posted is just one of many but they are all the G major scale.

For instance.

E0|--|2-|3-|--|5-|--|7-|8-|--|10|--|12|--|14|15|--|17|--|19|20|--|22|--|24|
B0|1-|--|3-|--|5-|--|7-|8-|--|10|--|12|13|--|15|--|17|--|19|20|--|22|--|24|
G0|--|2-|--|4-|5-|--|7-|--|9-|--|11|12|--|14|--|16|17|--|19|--|21|--|23|24|
D0|--|2-|--|4-|5-|--|7-|--|9-|10|--|12|--|14|--|16|17|--|19|--|21|22|--|24|
A0|--|2-|3-|--|5-|--|7-|--|9-|10|--|12|--|14|15|--|17|--|19|--|21|22|--|24|
E0|--|2-|3-|--|5-|--|7-|8-|--|10|--|12|--|14|15|--|17|--|19|20|--|22|--|24|

There are some good lessons on this site for major scale and it's modes, check em out.
