Hey guys I finally got new pickups installed, however, my friend who also plays guitar doesnt understand the benefits of installing new pickups and thinks i should have just bought a new guitar. Does anyone have a good analogy or explanation to show how new pickups do in fact help your tone significantly?

i got the seymour duncan hot rodded set which is a SH-4 in the bridge and a jazz SH-2 in the neck pickup. total it was around $150 (USD) with push-pull pots (for coil tap) and capacitors. It was also another $50 to have them installed. yay birthday money!

if you had the pickups installed into that epiphone G-130 SG that in you sig it probably wasnt worth it. But to help explain to your friend pickups are what gives you your raw tone, if you start off with bad tone from bad pickups your not going to be able to make it much better using the amp.
