Is there a way to temporarily disable it somehow?

I have always rested my right hand on the bridge when palm muting or arpeggiating chords, which was fine before. But now with my Strat I have to be careful not to put any weight on the bridge or it bends it out of tune. Its something I can get used to, but just wondering if I can disable it, or should I just a get a different bridge if I don't get used to it?
