Ok, so i need some help. (Just for reference, i play progressive metalcore)

I have a Marshall VS265 amp and i model my tone with a line 6 podxt live. And for the last couple months everything has been fine. A couple days ago, i was playing at a sound check for a gig, and my amp just shifted randomly to this **** tone and sounds like 100% distorted crap. I tried jiggling the volume knob and that worked temporarily, getting me back to my desired tone. Then it happened again, and i can't get it back to normal.

I thought it might have been the preamp 12AX7 tube, so i swapped it out, but that didn't help. I changed the power supply, and that didn't help either.

So here comes my dilemma.. The amp isn't worth alot as it is (and i wouldn't mind getting an upgrade), and the repairs could cost me up to $100.

I have $500 on tap, and could get up to $750 if i dropped my pod.

Should I:

A. Fix the damn amp, don't waste anymore money.
B. Find and buy a used amp (5150, TT, etc.)
C. Use other people's amps, and model my tone with the pod.

Please help.

That 5150 combo looks like a plan, but are there any more suggestions?

if your going to sell it, (i see your sig), please let the buyer know that it has crapped on you. dont be a douche.

@RHCPFitz - i wouldn't be a douche. i just haven't changed my sig. Right now the guts are completely separated from the speakers, and i'm gonna try to close it up and use it as a 2x12.

Still looking around for an amp that won't cost me a small fortune, but will get me some good grit.

They have used B-52 AT100 at gc for 250, but i dont know how happy i'd be with that. but if i could get it for virtually free with trade ins, then is it worth it?

The B-52 turned out to be the b52 LS100. So, i'm not getting it.

So, should i just keep searching for a good deal on a 5150?

I wouldn't mind getting an amp that i can continue to use as my musical taste progresses to cleaner, not so brutal, music.
