1) it will not be made of metal.

i have abig piece of mahogony that i aqquired for free (woo) from the builders of my school. since a large chunk of it would be used in my alexi build (comin soon ) i decided that im gonna make a mandolin from the small bit i have left.

BUT

instead of a classic lookin mandolin shape, im gonna do a metal style guitar shape. but i dont know what yet. so post ideas for a shape if you want. no pics till monday, but i have already started work on the neck (glued headstock on, shaped sides) an taken some frets off a broken acoustic guitar to use opinions please

I agree, just order a set of fret wire from stew-mac, it's like $5 for 2 feet or something. That should be enough for a mando, it's enough to do 12 frets on a 22" scale guitar. As for the body shape, I would suggest a V shape, actually. I think that would look ultimately cool. For pickups, you should use P-bass pickups, since they'll be the correct size for fit under the strings and would sound thin and nasally. You could actually use each individual coil as a pickup and do some neat wiring tricks, too. Stew-mack also has plenty of Mando parts you could use for it, too. But a V shape with a string thru and a mando bridge would be kick-ass.

Are you going to go 8 string or do the "4 string" thing with it?

edit: a touch of inspiration for you:

Also, are you going to to the "starter" tuning or the correct violin tuning with it?

Jackson Warrior shape.

Or the ESP AX shape, so that Max Cavalera will come steal it and play it on the next Soufly album
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"
