Hey all, and Happy Friday

Quick question for you.

I've pretty much decided my next guitar's going to be a Schecter, most likely one in the c-1 series, but i'm torn as to which one.

I'd already have a transparent blue c-1 classic if it didn't have that "vine of life" going up the next. I dunno, can't say its my cup of tea, but the rest of the guitar is just bee you tee ful.

I was poking around and noticed the c-1 hellraiser though and that's caught my eye now, albeit with a pretty tame appearance.

What's your guys'/gals' opinions on them? Any feedback would be great.

Basically im lookin at spending around $1000ish on a new toy, and I mostly play a lot of harder rock/metal/grungy stuff, so any feedback would be awesome!

I'd be running it either through my PC's system, or my Marshall MG100DFX Combo, and my other guitars are a Pacifica, and an ESP MH-50, so I'd be more concerned with updating my guitar than amp at this point!

Any ideas? Tips? Recipes? i'll take anything at this point :P

hmmm, can't say i've looked too much into that one myself! hah

I figured most people would say go with the amp, but I really don't play any shows and its mostly just for kinda having around, so I'd be more interested in the guitar first.

The Pacifica was my first guitar like, 10 years ago, and the ESP is just garbage (minus the action, good god the action's awesome for such a low end guitar ) so I'm really looking to kinda get a decent guitar to have and not be ashamed busting out my two low enders :P

hah not too tame! i just had soooo many problems with my FR that i've almost given up hope!

see, thats kind of what i'm kinda hoping for. I really think i might just go for the Classic, cause it looks awesome, but like i was sayin, its just the vine of life inlay thats holding me back.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

That's what I am planning to get by the end of the summer.

Damn, that guitar is hawt, I hadn't seen one of those before!

Either way, spending that much on a guitar is going to be a waste with those amps, but do what you want.

IMO, the Classic is the better guitar, but that's because I like the pickups better in it, plus I think the Vine of Life is sexy

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I have a Hellraiser and a Damian and a ESP KH-600 and a ESP MH-400. I play through the
Marshall mg100dfx half stack and a Digitech GNX3. I have been playing schecter exclusively for a couple of years and got a Good deal on This MH-400. Best Guitar I ever owned. I simply love it. It comes stock with the Emg 81/85 active and plays like a dream. So I would save a little money and buy the ESP MH-400

A nice guitar through a crappy amp will sound like crap but a crappy guitar through a nice amp will sound okay.

Ditch the MG and use some of your new guitar funds to get a decent amp - depending on what you buy and what kind of deals you can find you might still have money left over to upgrade to a better guitar too.

Because it is the amp I have. It sounds pretty good. I have had some other guitarist after a show wanting to know what effects and all I use to get my marshall to sound like that.
What half stack would you recommend under $1000.00 cause I only paid $500.00 for the one I have.

MHs are some nasty guitars thats true. i think it just comes down to which one plays better to you. casue they are very similar guitars in look and sound

like i was saying about the amps though, I really don't use an amp ever because of living arrangements (paper thin walls) and i really don't have much interest in playing shows or anything with work and what not. My thinking is that if I buy a guitar first, I'd not have to buy one when I upgrade my sound. Also, I haven't had a new guitar in 10 years, so was kinda hoping for something new.

If it doesn't make any sense to buy a guitar and just upgrade the amp, spose thats the only option, but like I said, gettin a bit worn on playin a worn out Pacifica :P

nice, thanks for all the replies all, its really appreciated! hah gives me something to do while i sell people insurance! (dont hold that against me! :P)

originally i was looking at getting an Epi SG Prophecy with the EMG's in it, but got jerked around by the guitar shop i was getting it from.

I went to jamaica instead

Yah i have a C-1 classic, the pups are great and the playibilty really nice.

Its a good contrast between it and my Les Paul the necks are very diffrent and it affects the way you play and sound alot.

If you have that much money for that 1 grand youll be able to get a much nicer guitar over here.

even the 700 bold T's are amazing.

youll be doing yourself a favor offering some contrast to your sound by not by the same styled typed guitar, also these are made in the USA and not marking down my C-1 classic or shecter but better quality over all.

Edit:

i just realized you have a marshall MG.

buy a new amp before you get a new guitar or split the budget and go used.

you definately find a really nice used amp for 500 and really nice used guitar for 500.
