Hey Guys. I just picked up my new used 1986 Fender Jap Strat. 23 Years old. Maple Neck, C Shape Neck, Black Body, Trem Bridge but no bar included, Tortoiseshell Scratchplate, a few knocks and dents, and because of those knocks and dents, I got it for a bargain price of £295!
Should be getting a Trem Arm soon.
It plays like a dream, its the most comfortable thing in the world, and I am so glad.

Cool. Bridge looks seriously old though...

If anything could ever be this good again,
The only thing I'll ever ask of you,
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when.

Yeah ^.
I need to polish it. 23 years worth of not polishing it didnt do it very good.

It's a bit of work but if you're up to it, you can remove the bridge saddles and soak them in naptha (Careful of fumes & sparks!)! Dan Erlewine does this to remove dirt/crud and some corrosion. Then you can wipe them and re-install.
Moving on.....

Wow that's a nice find my friend, really digging the color combo. Might wanna swap out the bridge, or keep it if you want it to be all original but clean it up at least. When I got my MIM it had a bit of corrosion so I'm swapping it out for a 2-point tremelo.

Leave it as is with the wear, but put a black pickguard on it and you got your own Gilmour Strat!

Thats the first thing that came to mind when I saw that guitar. Beautiful guitar too. The color of that neck, the 50's style headstock and the fact that Gilmour's is C shaped also, aged pickups and knobs...hell put on a black pickguard and you got instant an Gilmour guitar. No brainer really for a Pink Floyd fan. Thats why I bought my Kramer Pacer Special. Its my version with my type of specs with a Gilmour look to it

That's a very sexy guitar.

I'd leave the current pickguard, looks really really good, much more interesting than black on black would be.

Ah, welcome to the '86 MiJ Fender club...that's rather a specific club name though :P

Anyways, that's a very nice guitar you've picked up there. Where did you get it from? I get the impression it might be from the same place as me, as it is almost the same price as I paid.

Cleaning the knobs, eh? Really?

Anyway, happy new guitar day. And don't put a black pickguard on that, please...
