You'll want a loud, clean amp that takes pedals well. A bunch of Sunns, Ampegs, some Fenders, Matamps... What's your budget like?

and what is your current gear?

You're going to need at least a few pedals to get anywhere close to MBV. I'd say Fender Bassman and a Big Muff Pi to start.

You wanna do shoegaze without effects?...

You wont get shoegaze fuzz from an amp, you'll probably want a nice clean amp like a Fender, then get pedals for it.

Something like a Deluxe Reverb or a Bassman. I dunno if they're in your price range though.

Listen to clips, watch youtube vids etc. only way to really know what it sounds like. Aside from trying one out that is.

ok, then the big muff pi sounds like a good purchase. and what pedal should i use for a thin crisp jangly tone, however still heavily distorted like so, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD-5XgFYJVI

If you get a HRD, it'll do that tone just fine.
