hey i know how tubeys sound better cranked up and i was wondering if it would work if i turn up the volume, use my boss me-50 volume pedal to turn the volume down to a neighbour friendly level, whilst retaing the trouser-creaming tone

thanks

edit: i have a laney vc 15 btw

That would not really work as the volume pedal cuts down the input power, so it will have less gain. Pretty much the same as turning your volume pot down on the guitar. It still may sound nice, but it will be pretty clean.

^As he said. If your amp has an FX loop you can put that in the loop and it will work as a master volume. You won't get power tube saturation but you will get a lot of preamp saturation.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

That's what I use my Boss RC-20 for

Works really well.
