What are some vocalists whose vocals have gotten worse or better over time?

I think that Tom Arayas vocals have turned into the same monotonous yelling in every song... I mean he's always yelled but it used to be interesting now it sounds crap, IMO. It's sad to say that...

I also think that Chris Cheney from the living end has pretty average vocals on White Noise compared to what he's done before

Kele Okereke's (Bloc Party) vocals have improved amazingly, seriously, live he sounds as good as he does in the studio.

dexter holland. listen to the offspring's first album. he sounds like a different person

Better: Mikael Akerfeldt. His growls are still amazing, but in a different style. His cleans however, are magnificent compared to what they used to be.

Worse: James LaBrie. Yeah, that's pretty self-explanitory.

Same: Aaron Stainthorpe. His growls got raspier, and fit the sound better, and his cleans have stayed exactly the same (good thing, very good).

Geddy Lee's voice has changed dramatically since the 70's and 80's, but it hasn't changed to the point where it sounds bad, merely different. he's in his mid 50's and can still put on a 3 hour show no problem

Michael Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold has improved his singing over the years and can now put on one hell of a show. the guy has one hell of a powerful voice

Alexi Laiho's voice has gotten worse over the years, he used to be able to scream and growl no problem live, but no he cuts a lot of his vocal lines short

Axl's voice hasn't changed over time at all.

I personally think Steve Tyler's voice currently blows, compared to when Aerosmith first came out

Matt Tuck is a much better singer than he used to be. He actually sings metal now! Can you believe it?

Every singer's voice gets tired out eventually, especially Tom Araya. Doing Angel of Death for 25 years is sure to destroy your voice

But James Labrie was definately worth noting, didn't he have surgery in his throat or something though?

Yeah, he also smokes.

But, that's beyond the point, this isn't a technicalities thread

James Hetfield. i like his vocals better now. although some would say they suck.
Mustain has also improved.
Lemmy. not sure if its better or worse, he still kicks ass.
Bruce Dickinson has even more epic vocals now.

Gerard Way.
I reckon he's improved a lot. In some of MCR's first songs, he sounds incredibly out of tune, though now I believe he sounds quite good.

Worse: James Hetfield. His singing used to be angry and forceful. Now it sounds like he's bored and tired of performing.

Another one I should mention is Corey Taylor. He has become an amazing vocalist (again, IMO) but I do miss how aggressive he sounded in Iowa and Slipknot. But I guess his throat would be pretty ****ed after all that

I think David Coverdale of whitesnake has improved quite a bit. His voice on the new album was great. Sounded a lot more aged, but that was fantastic on songs like Till the end of Time.

Bruce Dickinson isn't by any stretch of the mind a bad or even sub-par singer, but his voice has degraded over the years.

Jeff Martin I think has gotten worse, but then again, most of his old live performances weren't very good either imo

Even tho I'm a big MCR fan I still think Gerard is a pretty sh*tty singer it's just more tolerable, I do agree his vocals in the first album is irritatingly terrible

James Hetfield's voice used to be good. Now it's just awful.

*flameshield* Corey Taylor. He lost his voice pretty badly too.
