Okay, so i've done even more research and have narrowed down my options,

I'm looking for a tube amp (or a nice solid-state) that I can use for bedroom practice, jamming with friends, band practice (with drummer in a compact bedroom), and gigs.
so I'm guessing about 50 wts?

I want to be able to get teh br00talz with my amp, but I also want an amp with good cleans, (I would want a jazzy clean, but I think that might be asking too much from a high-gain amp)

My price range is, at max, $600.
I guess I'm willing to go used, if i could find something. My closest nearest major city is Dallas.

These are the amps I'm looking at so far...
B-52 AT-112 (probably my most likely choice)
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/B52-60Watt-1x12-Tube-Combo?sku=480046

Randall RG50TC (i've heard questionable things about the clean channel...)
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=481197X

and another option that I found is maybe a POD + Atomic Amp? Only problem is that I don't know where I can find Atomic Amps, and I'm still confused on what a POD IS exactly. is it a guitar pedal or can it act as an amp?

I think I've covered everything...thank you for any help.

My amp has great clean tones and its high gain for sure

probably just cause it has a nice reverb tank haha.

On the SS side, a Cube 80 is about like a 40w tube amp and may suit your needs.

Roland makes awesome amps. I get an awesome metal sound on the Metal and Metal stack settings. Distortions gives versatile sound 80s metal style. Plays Metallica and AC/DC real well too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does it not go like...

333's = XXX's and JSX's
6260/6262 = 6505/5150's

?

Cause if so, that won't cut it, I want good cleans, and from I've heard, 6505s =/= good cleans.

I think they have cleans that are much better than a 6505, but thats IMO.

Can anyone tell me more about the Pod + Atomic Amp idea?
I'm very curious/confused on how a pod works.

It's a preamp, which is pretty much an amp without the speaker. It includes effects and whatnot. Generally speaking;

POD=Flextone-Speaker

Atomic Amp=Speaker

POD+Atomic Amp=Flextone

no

Flextone = 5/10
POD+Atomic Amp = I dont know, but im guessing it'd sound better so 6.5/10
Peavey XXX= 9.9/10

Hm, okay, in that case I'll try to work up $500 for the XXX combo. (assuming its still there by the time i have the money)
which would be better though, the XXX or a F-series Mesa?

thanks for all the help by the way

No, it is pretty much a preamp. You need a pre and power amp to be an amp and THEN put it through speakers.

But if I'm going to be buying over CraigsList....how would I test them out?

but how else will I buy used?!
hahahaha.

My two local shops don't have a wide selection of used amps...or used amps for that matter. And the only the GC near me has are vyprs and ravens and fenders and Line 6's...and a random used Traynor?

The most metal amp they have over there (in my price range) is a Blackstar HT-5 (Or is it Blackheart? I get the two mixed up )
