Don't use a battery, don't have an LED and then don't even worry about the DC jack. I built one recently without any active parts and it's really not a problem once you're plugged in and playing. If you can't tell which amp you are going through without an LED then surely you don't need an A/B box anyway.

Well, I used amp as an example, what function do you want this for or do you just fancy making one for fun?

Well after looking at this thread, I got the itch to build one of these.

Now I'm stuck at the resistor, it says to use a 1K resistor, but the closest I have is a 1.5K. Can i use that or do I need to use a 1K specifically

are you putting an led in it?

edit: 1.5k will work. if you arent putting an led or anything regarding power you probably wont need the resistor.
