I'm assuming you're playing metal?

Never played the Randall, but I wouldn't expect it to be that good, the VK I've never been too impressed by.

What's your budget?

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Yeah mostly metal, Slipknot, Tool, Deftones, Black label Society, Ozzy, Pantera, ect.

For $1000 you could do WAAAAYYY better.

Go used and look into Mesa, Randall MTS series, Marshall JCMs, etc.

Like what? These are the only two I have available to me besides a line 6 spider which I don't want unless I buy something from musicians friend online or something.

You have $1000 and you're looking at Valvekings?

I was kinda looking to buy a half stack cause I play in a band and need something loud enough to go over the mic off drumset for gigging.

Trust me, the 6505 is more than loud enough for even the biggest of gigs. Seriously I'd be surprised if you ever needed to turn the volume past 12 o'clock.

I guess I could always mic it to the P.A. if needed.

I played with a band last night using my Peavey Classic 30 combo... 30W and 1 12" speaker, it was plenty loud.
