I actually was at a Hamer dealership earlier and saw a V for around $500 if I remember right, it was a Hamer Vector.

Check out Dean's V from their '79 lineup. Or you could try to find a used Gibson V, they both play oh so nice

V's are actually really comfortable to play sitting down if that's what you mean with the "suckage", I love playing in classical guitar position.

I don't know how much they cost, but look at Reverand V's. They look oh so old school and I hear they are great sounding with no mods....
