My friend is convinced that he should by the epiphone EM-2 for $300 instead of a nearly new bc rich mockingbird ST for $400 (it's usually 900).

He is convinced that because a couple reviews of the st weren't completely positive, he should get the epiphone. Also he's strangely loyal to epiphone and convinced that it's a better instrument. He plays lead guitar in our punk/rock band.

So, what do you recommend? Epiphone for 300, or BC Rich for 400?

BC Rich ST... I'm thinking of getting one. Ive only found them in the uk for £600+. For fourhundred dollars for a guitar of that quality you can't go wrong.

maybe he doesn't like guitars that he thinks looks stupid?

He has his preferences. Leave him alone. They are both decent. It's not like this is an MG intervention.

yeah, they are both decent, but it's not that he actually thinks the bc rich is bad, but for some reason in his head, epiphone is a super great company and all of their 300$ guitars play like 1000 dollar ones.

Doesn't make the hugest difference to me, but it seems to be common sense.

(nothing against epiphone, i play a g-400)
