i have a tone that i like, first of all. i just have a few questions about the crunch and ultra channels and the sounds im getting. first of all, i am running my xxx with 6l6s. while i am playing on the crunch channel, it sounds a bit chimey, and has somewhat incessant highs sometimes. should i look for a pup change? i have the stock d-activators in my guitar. another question, is the xxx considered a mid heavy amp? i was considering rolling off some mids.
thanks!

Hmm, a tube change to JJ's could give you a slightly darker tone.

As for settings, I would try:

Hair: 2 o'clock
Body: 12 o'clock
Bottom: 3 o'clock
Gain: 10 o'clock ( anymore you could compensate for with your TS9. )

And your TONE knob on your TS9 to about 10 or 11 o'clock

but again that's just me, I like a large amount of bass, so you might consider rolling the bass down....

I've never tried one with it.
Though I do plan to mod my SD-1 to something similar to a TS9.

Just slightly roll off your mids and treble if needed. You can also try increasing the bass.

On crunch, I usually have my bass around 7, mids around 3, and treble 4 or 5. And gain around 3. Sounds a bit bright on the bridge pick up still though. I have similar set up for ultra, just maybe more bass, and more gain.
