Hey guys my peavey classic 30 is making a whole bunch of popping and crackling noises. Even if the volume is off on the amp and the guitar, theres lots of noise. Its not the cables or the guitar, because i still get the noise with nothing connected to it. Any suggestions?

does it do so when you turn the pots? if so, they're dirty, if not, you might have microphonic tubes in that baby...take the back off so you can access the tubes, turn it on, let them heat up and see which one it is you have to replace by tapping it lightly with a pencil

Im not sure if its the tubes either because i dont hear any sounds when i tap them. the static and popping is spontaneous, so maybe a bad solder joint inside?
