alright, so I'm quitting alcohol, but since I've been having a hard time falling asleep.

anyone have any suggestions how to sleep better? maybe a kind of tea, or such?

i know this isn't much help right now, but if you tire yourself out throughout the day, you'll find less trouble getting to bed. try hitting the gym!

that might be a good idea, I'll have to try it out. I work about 11 hours a day, but I'm sure I can fit a 30 to 60 minute workout session in the evening after work.

not really an addiction, just a really unhealthy habit.

I definately don't have any withdrawal symptoms, so it's not a physical addiction yet.
Figured I should quit while I'm still ahead.

but yeah, I really wouldn't like to switch to another drug every night.

Sleeping pills? But you might gain a dependability to it.
Mostly keep your eyes relax. Sometimes you'll have your eyes tensed up and not even noticed.
Workout. You'll be tried out before you hit the hay.
Don't sleep at all. Then the following night, you'll be tired enough.

If all else fails, start drinking until you sleep again.

you can buy specialty teas that help you get to sleep. I have some around for when I have more trouble than usual getting to sleep..

usually I just have 'normal' black, or chai tea (although they have caffine, it helps me get to sleep, so I"m not sure if it'll have the same effect on you .)

iirc, green tea is naturally caffine-free, so posiibly try that first, cause the sleepy-time tea is more expensive..


tl;dr, I like tea, it helps me get to sleep.

But srsly, I had the same problem when I slowed down drinking. After about a month I started sleeping better, and now I sleep like a baby because my job is very phyiscally demanding and starts at 5 am. Maybe wake up a few hours earlier each morning and go to bed a bit later to tire yourself out? I get only about 4-6 hours of sleep a night but I sleep like a rock.
