well, i'm going to build an icefly.
in case you don't know, parker fly crossed with an ibanez iceman.
here's the page where i saw it: http://www.freewebs.com/guitarbuilding/
the wood (queensland maple):

The neck, maple fretboard 24 frets:

The drawn plan:

and the parts (floyd rose FTW):

Its going to have the gotoh pickup in the neck and a seymour duncan dimebucker in the bridge (i can't afford two seymour duncans )
1 volume pot (push-pull for coil tapping)
3-way switch
I think i will probably finish it in white and maybe spray some black on it

Wow... that guitar is hideous.

Good luck in your build though.

#12
That's a pretty disfigured Iceman.
I saw the same thing over @ Project Guitar.
I can't say I like the design, Icemans being my fav, but good luck!
#13
It looks a bit iffy in the plans, but should turn out alright depending on the finish you give it.
Personally I think clear/natural finish would be sexy.
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me

Are you going to play Spanish Fly on it?

Sorry, it was the first thing that came to my mind... I don't exactly like it, but I certainly don't hate it. The shape intrigues me, so I'll be following this thread closely to see how it turns out. Are you tapping both pups or are you just doing one? I can't imagine a dimebucker tapped... I kind of want to do that to the one in my old school epi now...
#16
That's a really interesting design, so I can't wait to see how the build develops.

Are you going to be using the Fly's style of body contours?

Can someone give me some help?
How should i square up the body so that all the routes are straight

Also how should i finish it? I was originally going to paint it white but someone mentioned clear, which also sounds good

You need to find the center line. Measure the distance of half the guitars width from the edge of the wood, mark this at one end of the guitar and do the same thing to the other, and draw a line. This is your centerline, its ****ing important. Use it to find right angles and what not.

I have a Iceman so I really do like this project, one thing, instead of leading the top slanted by the neck hook it so it looks similar to the one on the bottom, or curve it straight just kills the lines.

Either way constructive criticism I'll enjoy the finished product.

JT

Edit: BTW I'd go with the Iceman neck, the head stock is just a major part of it in my opinion

umm.. the upper curve seems a bit (hard to word it) basically it doesnt look like how the iceman curves. It's all got potential i just hope you make it look better after all the carves and such.

Looks great so far...

Dont you think the top flare cut will get in the way of playability on the upper register?
