Im refinishing my first gutiar ever owned and just wanted to know how well the wilkinson floating strat tremolo performs? i'm not sure of the model, as it's from guitarfetish.com and it says it's exactly like a wilkinson. I'd like to know if its actually full floating, achieving enough range to play some evh type stuff.

thanks

Then it's not a wilkinson is it? "exactly like a wilkinson" means "not a wilkinson".
Actually called Mark!

I emailed guitarfetish, they claim that their version is the exact same thing, just doesnt have the name wilkinson on it. Same size and such. Just going by with what they told me.

Thats the link to the tremolo on their website.

is that "exact same thing" in that it looks like it, or "exact same thing" in that it's made in the same factory, from the same materials? i'm assuming the former... not all wilkinsons are even made by gotoh japan, any more, so i don't know how good the GFS one would be.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

+1 EDIT: well, actually, the non-gotoh ones on those vintage advances are actually not too bad, but yeah, the gotoh ones are going to be superior. gotoh stuff is like a work of art.
