Well im looking for a new amp again, and i made several posts already but i still havent made a decision haha. Anyway i am looking for an amp that is atleast 30 watts of tube, has good cleans and is able to handle good distortion with a pedal if needed, unless it has good natural distortion then thats even better. I play ska for a band and so good cleans are needed and distortion is needed sometimes too, because i play different types of music so yeah. Basically a versatile amp that has good cleans and is able to handle good distortion. My price range is around $600 i guess but i dont mind buying used.

To make things shorter i want a versatile amp, good cleans and is able to handle lots of distortion. I probably missed something so feel free to ask things. Thanks.

How brutal do you have to get?
It sounds like a Peavey Classic + OD would work here...

it doesnt have to be like really hardcore or anything. Could the peavey classic handle distortion well?

I personally find the C30s to be quite lifeless, jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none amps.

Maybe look into a Traynor of some kind? I'm not an expert on them, but I hear a lot of good things.

C30 dist. is nice, and sounds even better when you crank the volume way up. Really, overdriving the clean channel can get you some really good tone as well, since these amp don't have a lot of head room, not an extreme amount of gain but its pretty crunchy.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/msg/1066021881.html Traynor YCV80, $600 - he's high on the price, these go in the $440 area all the time.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/msg/1065832029.html Carvin 50-100 tube combo, $275 could be a keeper.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/msg/1064058817.html Laney VC30 210, $400 Not extremely common in these parts, good amp as well.

I didn't check Orange County but quickly found these options. These are the kinds of adds I would be checking out. Good luck.

to answer everyone question on wheter the C30 can get brootalz and sound good as well, here you go.

as for the C30 being lifeless and sterile, i dont know about that it works for me, if i would id buy Vox ac30, but for 300$ this thing just cant be beat.

if you have a strat type guitar with this amp your in tone heaven, its not all that versatile but it gets you quite a few nice tones.

as for the distortion its the best part of the amp apart from the cleans.
