So, looking at amps, in the marshall mg series.
there is
mg100 1x12
mg100 2X12
and a cab that is 4x12 (120 watts) with the 100 watt head.

so is it better to have 1 100 watt speaker, or 2 50 watt speakers or 4 30watt speakers.
whats clearer?

Marshall MG's are known as one of the worst amps ever made.

Sorry to be so blunt

Mesa Rectifier 4x12 Standard Cab
Ibanez RG 321

If you can afford an MG100 2x12, I'm sure that there are much better amps

(kind response)
You know, for the money you pay for a big MG, you can get a nice tube amp that is as loud as the MG which much better tone.
(end kind response)

Now next time, use the fucking search bar and see what everyone else has to say about MGs. N00b.

Honestly, I'm sick of seeing so many MG threads around here. No one ever uses the ****ing search bar!

There are a million MG threads out there, any of which would have answered your question, but you failed to type "Marshall MG" in the search bar and click "Go!" - something that is actually easier than making a thread.

This thread is spam, thus

Marshall MG Amplifiers are quite hated for good reason.
Now the price of that halfstack could get you a much better sounding tubed amplifer that won't rape your wallet and will satify your needs in tone.

Perhaps this Bugera 6260?
http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6260%20212%20Guitar%20Combo%20Amp_-1_10052_10002_-49989977_cmCategorySA-10001
It has the flexablity to be Mid gain or high gain.
This can deffinately pull off some great metal tones.
And can pull off some classic rock mid gain crunch.
All around better amplifier for the cash.
And don't even think 120 watts of tubed amp isn't enough volume for anyone.

Or possibly this Vox AC15?

Hybrid or not its a pretty good amplifier if you try it out and enjoy its sound.

Or even a Fender Blues Jr. if your into lower gain amplifiers.

This all leads down to this question, what kind of music do you play?

AC15 is all tube. I will echo your question, though: what kind of music do you play?
Telecaster - SG - Jaguar
Princeton Reverb, Extra Reverb
P-Bass - Mustang Bass
Apogee Duet 2 - Ableton Suite

OK guys, he's come around.

$4-500?

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1068141911.html Good cleans, great distortion, not a whole lot wrong and a lot right with this amp. Suited for most things, but particularly classic/thrash metal.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1066405583.html If you play mostly clean stuff (jazz, blues) and a little classic rock, this amp is one of my favourites and I would recommend it highly. Not for anything with more gain than AC/DC though, unless you're not pedal averse.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1059529087.html If you're into metal, you can't really go wrong at all with this. If it's good enough for Dimebag, it's good enough for you.

Give those a look, I'll look up some more.

Ok, check these out also.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1058941559.html I don't know much about these amps, but Peavey SS are usually good.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/mss/msg/1038612373.html Basically the same as the RG80 stack I posted earlier...good for metal and very clean cleans, not so much anything in between.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1010207651.html Great all round tube amp, can do pretty much anything short of thrash on its own and can do thrash and some br00talz with a good boost.

^those are good

Here is Line6 Flextone II. I hear it is a great amp. Spending money on a 4x12 cab seems like a waste to me. At least at this juncture.

Number of speakers dictates how much air is pushed and how much you have to carry - more so than volume (in this case anyway).
#15
Yeah, I missed that. The Flextone is a good amp also, don't be turned off by the Line6 badge.

Hey, i checked out those craigslist amps,
i like to play, absolutely everything. as long as its a good tune.
ill give bands to narrow it down.
hendrix, black sabbath, zeppelin, clapton, lenny kravitz, metallica, pantera, queen, aerosmith, guns n roses, silverchair, rage, killers, stones.
i play on a fender mexican strat. and for heavier stuff, washburn dime333. i have a boss me-50 as well.
based on that, can you think which amp i should inquire about?

i really dont know the difference, im just going by what shadow wrote as the descriptions beside the links,
thanks guys, that was really cool that you took the time to actually look that up to help me out. Trust me, very much appreciated! in the meantime i will be doing searches looking up some info on the amps as well.
#17
No problem. We didn't mean to jump on you but the MG is a love hate thing. Most hate.

Looks like you play a lot of different stuff. Traynors are made in Canada and are pretty flexible tone wise, especially the higher up you go in wattage. Unless you are gigging big shows a combo type amp may get you more bang for the buck and still be very loud. A 30w tube amp can give you hearing loss. The Line 6 Flextone has lots of effects and amp models built in.

Can you buy B52 ATs up there? Just askin. Vypyr 60?

I'd go for the Flextone for that.
It has a lot of amp models and effects, so you can play pretty much everything

He wouldn't need a Vypyr cause hes got that me-50, i'd say just go for a B-52 or something.

You want either the Traynor or the B-52 then, probably. Look into getting an OD pedal also.

...

The ME-50 is a POS, and sounds like crap. Using it to make a B-52 sound worse is pointless.
