LOONG STORY SHORT.

Got SD blackouts for xmas--->my cousing said he couls help with the soldering
---->months pass by---->he finally comes by today since he finally has time.

Ok here is where it gets bad, we aparently found out that the de-soldering is a bit harder than we thought as well as all the wiring, so im gonna take it to GC or something to get them installed.

BUUUUUTT

My little 7-year old sister accidentally kocked one of th UNINSTALLED blackouts and it fell on the floor, i pick it up only to find that one of the two little things that you put the drills throught to adjust the height snapped off!!!

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Seymour-Duncan-Blackout-Active-Humbucker-301006-i1276301.gc

here is a pic of it, it is one of the two little plastic things with holes.

I have had it for 3 months already and i finally get the time to install them only fot this to happen!

what do i do?

will a glue gun solve this?
do i call SD and pray for mercy?!?

please help!!!

You mean the holes where the mounting screws go in?
You're screwed.
I'm joking, get down here, away from the noose.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure you could just change the pickup covers. I wouldn't know; I don't have actives.
Also, try gluing it with something, I don't think it's that big a deal.

EDIT: On another note, are you putting the Blackouts in your SG? 'Cause I am 99.666% sure that you need new pots (25k potentionmeters) for active pickups. I think you should let a professional handle it.
And yeah, another thing, get a smaller guitar store to change your pickups if you can, or better yet, do it yourself. GC= Overpriced, slow and untrustworthy.

i see broken ones on ebay all the time. they just glue it on. try some krazy glue or something really strong and dries thin. it won't affect tone or anything like that if youre worrying. and like someone else said, you need new pots for sure and GC is ****. They charge waay to much. buy pots and do it yourself. soldering is super easy. should take an hour or two and it's pretty much free.

I'd super-dooper glue it back on,
and when you screw the pickup in, I'd make sure the spring isn't
on the screw, because the spring will probably apply enough pressure to
snap the glued part off again.

EDIT: Or you could cut part of the spring off so it doesn't apply as much pressure.

a dimarzio pickup would have just kept on keepin on...

anyways, just glue it, or tape it, rubber-bands may work if

or maybe get some new pickups, those ones sound like they are made of plastic or something

I'm sorry man, I've been keeping up with all your threads and it seems like you don't have the best of luck.

To get out the stock pickups so you can put in the new ones.

if he was switching to blackouts from passives he could've just snipped the wires and pulled everything out. all the stuff currently in his guitar is useless(minus the toggle) as far as active pups are concerned.

Good point. I don't understand why any one would switch a passive pup guitar to active when they could buy just as high gain passive and not have to replace all the electronics of their guitar.

#20
^well call it insecurity in terms of why i went to actives.

anyhoo, yeah i dont seem to have the best of luck.

here is the thing, the "ear" got broke off right where it is connected to the pickup, so it may be a problem supergluing it..

i cheked GC and they said they have a 1-year waranty on parts so i hope it can cover this.....

GC is your only local shop ? you don't have any small shops around you ? they usually do a better job, get your guitar back to you quicker, and charge less.
