i personally think the killers could have been super stardom size such as muse and radiohead, however sams town killed them and their 3rd album came out almost unheard of..

what are some other bands you think that were so close to becoming huge, and just blew it with a bad album/ personality/ actions/ drug bust etc

i did search however if its been done ill delete it just tell me

That '3rd album' was just a CD full of B-sides. It wasn't an 'album' as such.

Oh snap! You're right. Anyway that album beat the sales for Chinese Democracy so it wasn't that much of a flop. The only reason I forgot about it was because I was too focused on Chinese Democracy.

Are you kidding? Their 3rd Album, "Day and Age" i think it's called, sold number 1 in the UK and beat out the new Guns N' Roses album, which has been anticipated for over a decade. Trust me, the killers are doing just fine.

Matter of opinion.

Dime sucks.

Edit: Day & Age was pretty successful. Human has 13 million views on youtube. I don't think it is the best song on that album though.

Get the f*ck out.
Please excuse my godawful username. I was thirteen.

the killers did do well yes, but they arent as large as they could have been is what i mean, they arent up there with radiohead, muse, coldplay etc.. where they could have been..

EDIT/ can we cut the DIME crap... really, like i dont mind the RIP stuff, but i think its kind of disrespectful saying RIP dime for stupid stuff...

example: the found a dime on the ground today in some mud
ppl go: RIP dime
anyone with a brain goes: they say RIP dime but really they just compared him to 10 cents in mud, thats pretty sad

also saying RIP a trillion times loses any respect your have for the man.

Max Webster. They used to be as big as Rush in Canada and toured with them a lot. Never picked up International or American fame like Rush did.

Well I can't really agree with the dude who said Nirvana didn't get huge, cuz, I mean, they did

And yeah I get what you're saying now, the killers definitely could get very big....hopefully in the upcoming years we see a rise in popularity for them.

I'm pretty sure I understand what you're trying to do and I don't find it very funny. You're just gonna end up getting it banned on here.

Why? It pertains to the thread. He's saying that whatever band Dime was in would have been bigger, but the guitarist died, hence, they blew it.

RIP Dime is a meme that forged itself from the depths of the yearly "Dimebag Darrell Shooting Anniversary Threads" that inundate the Pit on whatever god-forsaken day it happened on.

The only reason its kinda funny in this case is because it actually pertains to the thread. I do agree that its stupid when people use it with absolutely no context whatsoever.

Honestly, Oasis could have been HUGE (on the levels of like U2 and Radiohead) with the release of their first 2 albums but after that, everything went to **** cause they pretty much just kept releasing the same crap over and over again.

I mean, their later albums were alright but nowhere near expectations especially Be Here Now, that one completely tanked.

Joy Division, but the lead singer (Ian Curtis) killed himself, the surviving members did however form New Order, and became huge in the 80s.

I'm sure someone has already said the Stone Roses, but IMO they kinda sucked.

Especially since most of the fanboys never even listened to Pantera until he died. So yes, Pantera could be seen as a viable answer to this thread.

eh, I think Pantera was as popular as they could have possibly gotten playing the style of music they did when they broke up. Also it should be noted that they broke up before Dimebag was killed.
