OK I've been wanting to put EMG 81/85's in my Les Paul, and I'm getting new pickups within a week, But I'm wondering about livewires, I have not played on them, but In your opinion are they better then the EMG's? And dont start telling me I'm retarted and go with blackouts, I don't know there not for me. I would need to get cleans, and I play alot of punk, metal and alt rock. Thanks for the help!

I have the 81/85 on a Jackson Warrior that's currently for sale. That'll tell you what I think of their sound. On the other hand, my friend has a livewire in his Dean V, and I used to love going to his band's old practice spot and horsing around with his guitar, cuz his tone's awesome.

I think if you want one, you should go livewires.
