hey guys, i dont usually start threads, but i thought you might find these pretty cool.

also, i'm looking for a bit of info. i'm searching online too, but figured you might have additional info on these guitars or maybe advice as far as market value.

a friend dropped off a couple of martin guitars. were passed along from her great uncle. they were sitting in an attic. :/

we've got a steel string. the bridge is lifting, but the neck is in pretty good shape considering the lack of care.
serial number 0013 154074

a nylon here. again probably bought in the 20's or 30's.
the neck seems playable. no obvious body problems

serial number 0028g160082

just wondering if any of you have an experience with instruments this old.

thanks

wow, very nice finds! I want to collect some vintage guitars in the future, but we'll see if I ever have enough money. between buying headphone and guitars, I don't have much money left for anything else.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ

hey thanks

they belong to my friend. i'm back in for a bit. i guess no one here has any info on them tho?

edit: oh yeah and the steel looks to be from 1919 and the nylon from 1920...

seems like the way they break up the serial number and model that one is a

00 28G- model serial 160082, made 1920.

and the nylon is

00 13 - model serial 154074. *oh ok, that might be a 00-18

but i havent been able to find any prices, or value.

It's Martin, its from the early 20's.
That's worth several grand right there. Several several grand.
Hey, you know, if you don't want those, I'll gladly take care of them for you.

They look a lot better than most 88 yr old's I've met, that's for sure.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

well, value is subjective......

i'd think over 3K for actual value, 5K+ for sentimental/actual value.

that thing inside the guitar cavity?......

priceless

Nice find. Sorry I can't help you here but was wondering, is your friend fixing them to keep or to sell?

00 28G- model serial 160082, made 1920.

That serial number would put it during 1957, not 1920. Still awesome.

00 18- model serial 154074.
but i havent been able to find any prices, or value.

And 154074 would be in 1956. Again, still awesome.

In terms of value, each would be around 3-5 thousand, depending on the condition.

really? i guess the page i saw was off or i was off. makes sense. but thanks for the updates

^^she wants to keep them. she said keeping them in the family.
