ok so i have one.....

ITS NOT BAD OR ANYTHING. It gives me sounds i want; im not looking to sell or trade it, BUT!!!

i am looking for ANY OTHER AMP/BRAND that could fill my other needs....

the 30dfx has good distortion when i dial it right, but its not perfect. I want a mix between killswitch engage, metallica, and maybe something the KranKenstine puts out

any suggestions? OH! and im looking for something for about 500$

like the others said you should look at:
b-52 att series
bugeras (6260 is like the peavey 5150, 333 is like the peavey xxx, OR look for one of those peaveys used)
peavey vypyr tube 60 (really spot-on modelling from what i've heard)
line 6 flextone (great highgain modeller)
Ibanez S320 with Dimarzio Fred + Seymour Duncan 59-> Weeping Demon Wah -> Ibanez TS-7 -> Homemade iBoost x3 -> Keeley DS-1 -> Visual Sound H2O -> MXR Ten Band -> Traynor YCV20

Are you willing to buy used, if so what's your closest major city? Assuming you're American or Canadian, then we can Craigslist troll for you.

If all you had to go on was the forum you'd think a Decimator could cure noise caused by dodgey stage lighting and restock the ocean's population of sperm whales

soo bugeras is cheap peavey? but with same tone right??

oh as for the vypyrs, whats the difference between the 60 and 75 (other than wattage...) i am leaning to the 75, cuz it is cheaper

Some good amps to check out:

1. Peavey Butcher - $600 (if you can stretch your budget) http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/1074955658.html
2. Laney ProTube (needs a cab) $350 http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/1072569989.html
3. Silverface Fender Bassman + Line 6 pedalboard (this deal is particularly interesting because of the Bassman) $500 http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/1068262002.html
4. B-52 AT-100 fullstack http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/1061435540.html

If you go Bugera, have an amp tech look over the amp before you play it. They're known to be unreliable due to being biased too cold/use cheap fuses/tubes.
