Well, last week, my guitar teacher asked me to work on changing between scales. At the time, I thought I understood but in fact, I don't. He wrote down something like "To find scales find the notes that the pentatonic scale has in common with the major scale" but I have no idea what he's on about. I would have asked him today, but he can't come.

Help?

look at the 'boxes' you have now. more often than not they should link to another scale.

There's nothing incredibly interesting here.

Do you mean changing positions within a scale i.e. box patterns, or changing scales within a progression i.e. ionian to dorian?

Yes, but how? I mean, I don't really understand it :/

Also, I don't know what a box pattern is... Chances are I know how to do one but not what it is actually called...
