I've had a condenser mic for about a Month. and I have to turn the gain up way high now to hear my voice?

I don't use a pop filter or a stand. And just leave my mic on the table.

am supposed to protect it. How can I protect my mic?

I have a stand but don't know how to connect it to the mic?

Sounds like you need a mic clip. To protect it put it in a box or bag of some kind. It may be wise to get a pop filter since saliva and such is corrosive to the filter on the mic.

usually the wind screen will prevent saliva from getting in, not using a pop filter shouldn't damage it. But the mic should always be kept in its shock mount, which what you would connect to the stand.
