So this is in response to me last thread in which I was informed Home Depot wouldn't be good to buy wood, so I went to ebay and purchased a one piece ash tele body. Now you get to decided how I'm going to finish it.

BTW it's going to be a string through the bridge body, unless I can get a drill press soon.

*Disclaimer- stains only. No way am I covering up a beautiful ash body with a solid color.

No I'm not Jesus. I would aspire to be though. I think under circumstances he would let you pay less if you needed to.

Green stain. No need for pickguard.

Why would you cover the beautiful Ash body with a pickguard if you don't want to paint it?

Green stain, Black or gold hardware, Maple neck/fboard.

I'll cream

or use pickup rings
the bridge one wouldnt matter if youre using a standard tele bridge, as the bridge covers that pickup, and you mount it on the base plate.
and you can get single coil pickup rings for the neck

Amber/Butterscotch blonde. They're similar

Like so. This one above is also an ash body finished in butterscotch blonde.

so the stain color is still up in the air at the moment but there are some things I have decided on:

Schaller Strap Locks
Mighty Mite telecaster neck with custom decal
Wilkinson Compensated Telecaster Bridge

The pickups are either going to be Seymour Duncan Hot for tele or Quarter pound for tele unless somebody has a better suggestion

I play hard rock and classic rock mostly

Well I polled my school and the majority said tung oil as did the original poll here, so tung oil it is. It'll look mad classy.

So what are the steps from applying tung oil. Obviously sound to a high grit, 400 maybe?
Then just apply tung oil?

Do I need a clear coat or no??
#33
You don't need a clear coat for tung oil.
