Its an Ibanez EX160. body and neck are maple with a bone nut and rosewood fingerboard. I play metal blues rock. need something heavier than stock.

i was thinking:

Seymour Duncan SSL-7 in the neck spot. Anyone ever tried one of these? i want something with some balls but still sounds like a single coil. any thoughts?

Dimarzio tone zone in bridge. I want something with a good low end and good for shredding. Would this balance well with a maple body? thoughts?

thanks

go on the pickup finder on dimarzio.com they will tell you which one will fit good with maple bodies

maple is a very bright wood, lots of high end emphasis, so i would look for some warm pickups

and +1 for the dimarzio pickup finder!

Having a maple bodied guitar myself, I know this.
I use EMGs, personally, but I have a very high treble response.
VERY high.

Your pickup choices sound like a good fit to me.
