I'm using audacity and the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB and I've recently run into a problem. When I mix together all the parts, bass, guitar, drums, the parts seem to cut each other out, especially on overdriven or high gain guitar parts. How would I go about making them all "even" and maintain the intensity I need.

Equalization is your best friend your gotta remember sound is a physical force and when all the sounds are EQ the same the fighting each other to the end of the day, hense why people hate scooped guitar mids

another tip is to adjust the volume, not watching it visually and trying to match the meters so they are the same, Do it by ear so you can actually let watever you want shine, or to hide it at the back

Ahhhh the art of mixing
