Guitarists that specialize and gained fame through instrumental albums.
This is all personal.
But it's still okay if they do instrumental tracks with their band.
This is my list:

1. Jeff Beck
2. Stevie Ray Vaughan
3. Steve Vai
Washburn Idol WI64
Roland Microcube

Jeremy Clarkson is a knob.

Jón Þór Birgisson from Sigur Ros, Jack Lambert from Yndi Halda and Mark Smith from Explosions In The Sky.

Edit: Why did I include Jonsi, just remembered they aren't instrumental

I'll add one of the guys from Mogwai then.

Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield put together some great guitar parts on Orion and To Live Is To Die. I havn't listened to the new Metallica instrumental yet but I've heard its pretty good.

Orion was mainly Cliff Burtons masterpiece, but they do have their moments in that song.

The new one is hit or miss in my opinion, some of the leads don't make sense strung together the way they are, but the interlude is delicious.
