my old first guitar is a pretty modest bit of kit, im not pretending its any good, its not even my main guitar these days but i still love it cos it was my first. its basically a typical cheap rip off strat, an aria stg-005 if i remember correctly but it only says aria stg on the head.

i think its cos i put really high gauge strings on it (skinny top heavy bottom ernie balls) but nowadays when i tune one string it pulls all the others out of tune by a small amount, for example if you go to drop d by the time the lowest string is a D all the others are about 20 cents too high and it annoys me. any significant retuning or even sorting out new stings takes ages cos you have to do it in about 20 steps.

does anyone know enough about the bridge on it from the attached photos to tell me how to adjust it. thinner strings are not an option by the way i love the noise these make!

bonus points for the inclusion of a monkey in the solution cos we all know monkeys make everything better...

Thanks guys.

Yeah, you need to monkey around with the tension springs to stop the trem from lifting with those heavy strings. Strats were made for 9's or less so you are putting a lot more tension on them. Some models have room for 5 springs but yours looks limited to 3 so you may need to get a higher tension set if you can't coax another one on.

If you don't have an extra spring handy just tightening up the ones already there with the two screws will probably help a lot

*edit* After looking at the pics properly seems the screws are about as tight as they can go. Extra springs may be your only option.
