What is the difference between this:

and

this:

Besides the lack of a knob and a pickguard, I am not sure what the difference is.

Possibly a different wood (different factory?)
One has one less tone knob and a three-way pickup selector; the other has the standard strat layout of three knobs (2 tone, 1 vol) and a 5-way switch.
That seems to be all.

The bottom one looks way cooler

The bottom one looks like the body is 'bookmatched', one piece of timber split and then butt jointed together to give the grain that 'mirrored' effect.

The top one is one piece.

also the fretboard on the 2nd looks ebony and not rosewood like the first pic.

Pups are maybe different as well.

The most obvious differance is the fact the top one is "front routed". The bottom one is "rear routed".
I love all 5 (sold a couple) of my Carvin X-100b's.

they are both HSS strat deluxe models, the bottom one is a flamed maple top (FMT) model.
the scratchplate is left off to show off the finish. the maple top is a 1/8inch cap glued to an alder body.

both have S1 switching and wilkinson roller nut, the FMT has an ebony fingerboard.
I've been imitated so well I've heard people copy my mistakes.

Different wood.
Well, the bottom one has a maple top at least.
