I know there's a "need bass songs to learn" thread, on here, but I couldn't find one about slap bass. So, any suggesions on some slap bass songs? And don't say "higher ground" because I already know it...

Old Incubus!!!

Not saying the new Incubus is bad. I love all of Incubus. Just, new Incubus has no slap cause they replaced Dirk with Ben.

Definitely old Incubus like Hilikus, Psychocilocybin, New Skin or A Certain Shade of Green. Also RHCP and Mudvayne.

Are you looking for easy, intermediate or hard? RATM - Take the Power Back is a really great beginner slap bass song. Primus - Tommy the Cat, however, is not.

More details, please.

google funk songs

Not all funk songs are slap bass. Many are also fingerstyle. One of the premier funk players, Roccio Prestia of Tower of Power is a straight fingerstyle player.

try Higher Ground. easy, catchy, and funky.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

On "brick house", I slap it and it is fun as hell and sounds good, so what's the problem? It's a good one to learn on.

"Black Yen Power G-man Spy" is pretty simple, and sound cool when people ask what you are playing.

Also, Maximum the Hormone brings me to anime. If you are into it The Lucky Star theme sounds nifty. Theres a link to the tab in the "more info". I'm learning it right now, the hard part is the speed, i can only do it at half speed right now.
