So I am about to trade a guy my Genz Benz for his 5150.

Its a blockletter head, and I know the amp has 5 pre amp tubes.
But he said that the amp doesn't have a tube pre amp section only a solid state section and power tubes.

I am sketched out about the head now but I think I am going to check it out.
Where are the pre amps located on the head?

it's not a 5150 if it doesn't have preamp tubes.

Has the guy selling it to you been involved in any recent head trauma, or is he just mentally subnormal?

Does anyone own one to confirm this?

I thought 5150s weren't involved with solid state at all....

Maybe I'm just oblivious?

Maybe you should go check it out before you make a full decision. The guy might not even have what he thinks he has haha.

I got pictures sent to me and it's the block letter head.
The only problem is that the guy who owned before him tried to re-tolex and failed so then he tried to paint it camo but looks like Sh*t, but sounds fine.

I read about buying tolex and it seems they all come in yards.
How many yards would I need to re-tolex it?
I really don't want to pay a shop to re-tolex my amp when it seems like an easy DIY job.
