I dont think there's any guitars with an original FR under that price...
So I think you should find something used

Not that I'm aware of. You can get guitars with a LICENSED FR copy, or something of the like for that price, but you're hard pressed to get a good guitar with an OFR for that price unless you're exceptionally lucky in finding something used.

Licensed means another company paid to be able to use the Floyd Rose design. Original means its made by Floyd Rose, and is top quality.

^ Quality of the hardware and reliability. The OFR got it pretty on the money. Licensed trems have more issues with durability and stability, IME.

I might as well be more specific.

An OFR will pretty much be as good as it gets in tuning stability and having good knife edges (less snapped strings)

A LFR, which tend to not be that fantastic, will be more prone to not returning to its previous pitch after dive bombs, have sharp edges, be made of cheaper material, and be plaqued with many other little problems.

If you want to get a LFR, be sure to play it thouroughly, and make sure it isn't an Edge III trem. I haven't played that specific one, but it has a pretty bad reputation.

Well, my 16 year old ibanez sabre has a licensed floyd and I can do crazy whammy things on it and it won't go out of tune.

As embarassed as I am at times to say this, I actually have the same guitar model as Herman Ri, and he does all sorts of random whammy abusing and his guitar still seems to stay in tune.

Licensed isn't really that bad, as long as it's set up properly.

A steinberger R-trem is leagues above any floyd rose. A spirit can be found for around 3-4 hundred used or new, i would personally go with the used ones. If you want tuning stability and the ability to dive bomb and other whammy stuff, you cant go wrong with steinberger.

So what's the cheapest guitar with an OFR????

The cheapest guitar with an Original Floyd Rose is definitely a B.C. Rich, but you'll have to find the model, because they have like 5 Floyd guitars with that price. Bcrich.com

But Ibanez sells guitars with tremolos that stay in tune for less than that. Check out the Ibanez S470DXQM, you might like it.
